At the forefront of the Amazon energy transition .

VPFLEXGEN Brazil presents the Autazes Project as a milestone in decarbonization and socioeconomic development of isolated regions. This case demonstrates the application of innovative hybridization solutions, balancing profitability, resilience and positive social and environmental impact, in compliance with the most demanding ESG metrics.

Logistics and energy in an Isolated System.

Located in the Metropolitan Region of Manaus, Autazes has 45,961 inhabitants and faces the complex challenges of the Amazon’s Isolated Systems (SISOL). With an HDI of 0.544, the local economy depends on agriculture — especially dairy production, which requires stable energy for refrigeration.

Historically, supply relied on diesel generators: costly, unsustainable, and with river logistics vulnerable to seasonal variations — generating high OPEX and significant emissions.

According to EPE, Amazonas concentrates 92 of 160 isolated sites in Brazil.

From 14.5k to 27.3k inhabitants in 6 years

Since the VPFLEXGEN plant arrived in 2019, Nova Olinda do Norte has nearly doubled in size. Reliable energy is the engine behind this historic leap.

Intelligent hybridization: Solar + BESS + Diesel.

We deployed in Autazes a state-of-the-art engineering solution: a system that integrates photovoltaic generation with the existing diesel system and an advanced BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), ensuring 24/7 supply and overcoming the intermittency of solar generation.

24/7

Firm energy

Infrastructure assets and auditable decarbonization.

A solid investment thesis where socio-environmental impact is directly proportional to financial efficiency.

Financial resilience

Operational hedge against diesel volatility. Variable costs become direct savings and margin.

Net-Zero performance

Efficient vehicle for SFDR Art. 8/9 mandates with auditable CO₂ reduction backing.

BESS technology

Peak shaving, grid stability and longer lifespan for existing thermal assets.

Social governance

Local improvement reduces default and conflict risks, ensuring legal security.

Transformation and energy stability.

The Land of Milk

24/7 availability eliminates raw-material loss from refrigeration failures and boosts the competitiveness of local producers.

Family assets

Stabilized energy via BESS drastically reduces damage to home appliances and medical equipment in hospitals and schools.

Environmental health

Less noise and particulate (soot) pollution near schools and health units.

Digital economy

Stability enables expansion of connectivity, digital payments and modernization of local commerce.

An exemplary model of OPEX reduction.

Fuel savings

Partial diesel replacement by solar mitigates exposure to price volatility and river logistics risks.

Financial predictability

Greater cost control and asset valuation, with more efficient and profitable long-term operation.

Replicable model

Architecture adaptable to the Amazon's climatic and logistical particularities, ready to scale to other locations.

Measurable Impact

Towards a greener future.

2.267,04 T

of CO₂ avoided annually

This tangible metric reinforces VPFLEXGEN’s commitment to climate change mitigation and the preservation of Amazon biodiversity.

A replicable and highly attractive.

The Autazes Project is a testament to the feasibility and transformative impact of sustainable energy in challenging environments — combining technological innovation, engineering expertise and commitment to local development.
